ANDROULA DEMETRIOU Androula loves teaching and practising yoga. It helps her remain strong, grounded and happy and enables her to deal with the ups and downs of life. A regular yoga practice has been an essential part of her life for more than 20 years. Androula started her teacher training back in 2004. Her aim is to ensure that students are able to feel their bodies from the inside out and leave the class feeling grounded, energised, calm and be inspired to establish a regular practice.

ARAM RAFFY Like many, Aram came to yoga as therapy for serious back and knee injuries and was immediately struck by the healing and transformative qualities of the practice, both physical and mental. Especially the magical effects of the breath. The physical practice of asana (poses) and pranyama (breath extension) led to a greater awareness first of the body and then beyond, to a deeper understanding of the workings of the mind and into the practical and philosophical roots of yoga as a technology for understanding the nature of the Self and as a healing art. Aram completed his teacher training with inspirational yogi Doug Swenson and continues to regularly practice with and assist his longterm teacher Stewart Gilchrist. He has travelled and meditated extensively in search of amazing teachers to help expand his experience. The roots of his practice are based on the teachings of Krishnamacharya and the lineage passed down by him. Classes are dynamic, challenging, filled with good humour and all inclusive.

BETH SYMMONS Beth came to London from the Midlands to study at the Royal Academy of Music. She graduated in 1999 and continues to work as a professional Double Bass and Bass Guitar player at a high level within the Music Industry. Years of practicing and performing meant she had to understand the importance of looking after her body, particularly as she had shoulder pain, back pain and tendonitis in her wrists, which is so commonly suffered amongst professional musicians. One year she stumbled upon an Iyengar Yoga class and enjoyed it as a way of keeping fit. However, as time went on, she noticed that the tendonitis, shoulder and back pain she had was no longer there. With Iyengar’s emphasis on alignment and precision, she manages to keep her body and mind in check. Beth’s aim is for her students to develop a depth of knowledge and understanding of asana and pranayama in a safe and caring environment. She looks forward to welcoming you to her class.

HORTENSE SULEYMAN I stumbled across my first yoga class on a beach in Goa in 1997 and have been formally teaching since 2008. Originally from Paris, I moved to London in 1995 to study art and work for author and artist Edmund de Waal (‘The hare with the Amber eyes’). I then worked in the fashion industry, notably joining luxury boutique Browns being placed in charge of in-house events. More recently I studied dance and movement psychotherapy at Goldsmiths University. When it comes to yoga I don't believe in monogamy; I am attracted to a myriad of styles: I am an advanced Dharma Mittra instructor, taught Bikram Yoga, a senior Fierce Grace teacher, I was a regular at Astanga London for Mysore self practice and in August 2014 completed an advanced training enabling me to teach Forrest Yoga inspired classes. I have learned form ex gymnasts how to balance on my hands and from over a decade in recovery on how to balance on my feet. My interest in movement doesn’t stop with yoga... I am an amateur flying trapeze artist at last back in the air after a shoulder operation in July 18. My classes are stripped of spiritual talk but filled with positivity, humour and common sense. I am 'known' for my handstand courses and dynamic inversions filled sequencing. I am happier when upside down.

LEX ANANIAS A native Londoner, Lex originally took up his yoga practice as a remedy for the stresses of an urban existence. In 2005, inspired by what he discovered, he disposed of all his worldly belongings and set off to India on what became a six year journey that took him zig zagging around the world. During this time he studied and taught many disciplines and aspects of yoga, healing, psychology and meditation. Lex believes it is very important for the individual to make each asana an expression of their own body type and state of mind, whilst encouraging the release of old blockages and limiting thought patterns through a combination of breath, movement and awareness. Although he has studied with many teachers, he thinks of Yogi Ram of Rishikesh and Don and Amber Stapleton of The Nosara Yoga Institute in Costa Rica (formerly of Kripalu) as his main influences, the former being a very traditional Hatha Guru from the foothills of the Himalayas, and the latter teachers of interdisciplinary yoga (a blend of Vinyasa, Yin, Faldenkrais, Somatics, Iyengar and Ashtanga). His classes incorporate aspects of all these traditions within a Vinyasa flow context. Lex is accredited by the Yoga Alliance. www.lexyoga.co.uk

MARY YOUNG Mary discovered Hatha yoga in 2001 when she worked in the corporate world and with the stresses and strains of life over that period she found that yoga had a great stablising effect on her overall sense of well-being. Having moved on to Ashtanga yoga at a later stage, she became more engrossed in these teachings and wanted to seek further knowledge, taking her experience to the next level. As a regular Ashtanga and Quantum Yoga practitioner she began to feel a sense of liberation and freedom from the shackles of the corporate world so she subsequently decided to leave her job in 2008 and travel to India to learn to become a yoga teacher. She has never looked back! Mary has also formerly trained in Yin yoga with her main influencing teachers being Sarah Powers and Norman Blair. She has also recently explored the fundamental teachings of Yoga Nidra (iRest) which she interweaves into her teaching and everyday living. This is a form of secular self-enquiry informed by the teachings of Richard C.Miller PhD. Finally, keeping to traditional principles in her Dynamic Vinyasa classes, movement is synchronized with breath and, honouring her fundamental yoga training, she is influenced by the principles of Ayurveda and encourages self-practice away from her yoga classes.

LIZZIE REUMONT First drawn to yoga as a philosophy student over 25 years ago, it has been instrumental in finding balance in Lizzie's life. She descibes it as "like finding a map to better understand how to be in the world; with myself, my body, and in relationship with others." Lizzie is an Advanced Certified Jivamukti teacher. Her studies of yoga include a variety of internationally renowned teachers and schools, most notably the Jivamukti and Iyengar yoga methods, which she's been practising for over 15 years. Lizzie's classes are infused with an integrated approach to various forms of yoga, movement therapies and life experience. This includes alignment cues, awareness of the breath, and plenty of music. Hands-on adjustments are intended to give the practitioner a better understanding of correct alignment, the energetics of asana and an awareness of the body in space. As a yoga teacher, a Rolfer and a human being, Lizzie aims to create a space in the world where we can all celebrate our individuality and co-exist with compassion.

MIKE FARR Mike started practising Iyengar yoga 22 years ago. In time what he started to notice was the transformational qualities that the correct practise of yoga can bring. A very serious climbing accident left him in no doubt of the physical benefits of his practise. Modern life seems to be becoming more and more fragmented, but when a yoga practise is approached correctly it can bring back wholeness, not just physically, but mentally and spiritually too. The continuous application of conscious action brings about transformation. Come to Mike's classes to enjoy this process of transformation

ZHOZEH ZARRINDAST Zhozeh has been practicing yoga for 18 years and lives by the theory: I practice what I teach, and I teach what I practice. She has adopted a fusion of Scaravelli yoga and her own practice of yoga and dance to allow the breath to create the time that is needed to move in and out of asanas in a way that accommodates the body and creates softness in the mind. She incorporates the moon phase and all the elements into each practice to help connect beyond the physical body and being, resulting in a sweetness and simplicity, a sense of freedom and ease. Safe alignment is incredibly vital and Zhozeh's students are guided to connect to the divine wisdom within the love, respect and joy for oneself
