MOVING FORWARD WITH SELF CARE: A YIN & MYOFASCIAL RELEASE PRACTISE TO SUPPORT WELLNESS @Home workshop with Mary Young

PRICE £20 | EARLY BIRD £17 (until Monday 25th Jan)

Saturday 30th January 2021 | 5.00PM – 7.30PM

The general intention of this wellbeing practise is to mindfully support the body physically, mentally and emotionally combining yin yoga and myofascial release techniques.

Specifically, you can expect in this workshop to move through a meridian based yin practise which will include longer held grounding postures to stimulate the body physically and energetically whilst observing potential shifts/changes in awareness through mindful self-enquiry. In addition, there wil be a focus on applying gentle pressure on muscular and fascial tissues using massage balls to release tension and enhance circulation, encouraging hydration and tissue resilience. By mindful application of both methods this practise can evoke a deep sense of calm and relaxation whilst offering practical support for the immune system.

For the yin practise, you will need a bolster, yoga blocks, a blanket and a strap. You can also substitute these yoga props using everyday items found at home like cushions, towels and books.

For the myofascial release aspect, you will need two smooth massage balls (or tennis balls), a sock to hold the balls and a small towel.

This practice is open to all. You are advised to take qualified medical advice if you have any injuries/medical conditions or have had recent operations/procedures that may be affected or be inflamed by the yin practise and applying gentle physical pressure to the body.
